New Student Library Orientation

Welcome to Iona University Libraries

Iona Library Informational Links

  • The libraries’ hours are found on the Libraries homepage https://www.iona.edu/libraries

  • Librarians are available to answer questions virtually using the Contact A Librarian page https://libanswers.iona.edu/. We are available for individual in-person and virtual research consultations. Research Support hours are found on the hours page https://www.iona.edu/libraries/about-libraries/research-support-hours

  • Throughout the year, librarians host workshops discussing various research skills and tools. Workshops are announced in emails to students about campus events and on our site. https://guides.iona.edu/researchessentials/libraryworkshops

  • The search bar on the libraries’ home page allows you to discover books, articles, and electronic resources in the Iona collection and the collections of libraries all over the world. If Iona University Libraries does not own a resource, you can often borrow the resource through Interlibrary Loan at no cost, expanding your research potential exponentially.
  • Keep up with new additions to the collection by following our New Library Acquisitions page https://guides.iona.edu/newacquisitions

  • Librarians curate Research Guides with books, databases, and search considerations for subjects or classes taught at Iona University https://guides.iona.edu

  • In addition to the physical book collection in the libraries, Iona subscribes to over 200 databases https://guides.iona.edu/az.php. These databases provide access to hundreds of thousands of articles, eBooks, and business and demographic data, covering every discipline for every course.

  • Iona subscribes to databases like the streaming video platform Kanopy and Flipster Digital Magazines allowing you to explore personal interests in addition to exploring course topics.

  • Currently enrolled Iona students are eligible for a free New York Times digital subscription.  Activate your NYT account to stay informed of the daily news cycle, supporting your learning as a University student and strategic career decisions after graduation. https://myaccount.nytimes.com/verification/edupass
