Discover helpful library resources, learn research skills, and connect with Iona University librarians in an exploratory environment by attending library workshops. Dates for the current semester are listed below; no RSVP required.


Library Workshop: Introduction to doing Research at Iona Libraries

Description: An introduction to the Iona Libraries and the resources it offers. Learn where to find and how to use databases to search for academic sources.

Library workshop: Research and Citations

Description: Learn how to gather and organize your research using RefWorks. RefWorks is a tool that can be used to create citations for your papers in MLA, APA, Chicago, or ACS format.

Description: Need help creating useful and organized notes for your research papers? Join us for an introduction to note-taking. Learn different approaches such as Outline, MLA, Mind Maps, and the Cornell Method to determine which one works best for you.

Library workshop: Introduction to Statista
Date: Thursday, April 4
Time: Noon – 12:45 p.m.
Location: Ryan Classroom 201
Description: Do you have an assignment that requires statistics? Statista gathers statistical information from 10,000+ data sources, such as market researchers, trade organizations, scientific publications, and government sources. Participants will learn to navigate the Statista platform, download infographics, and create citations.

Library workshop: Introduction to Creative Commons for Research and Presentations
Date: Thursday, April 11
Time: Noon – 12:45 p.m.
Location: Ryan Classroom 201
Description: Learn how to use videos, images, and other creative works in your projects without asking for permission.  Creative Commons offers a library of cool stuff you can use for projects, videos, or art, helping you be more creative while respecting the creator and without worrying about copyright laws.

Description: Learn about supplementing Iona University Libraries resources with outside sources and how to locate resources after you have left Iona University. Explore government sites, the Library of Congress, and NYPL for research in college and lifelong learning.

Library workshop: Zine-Making and Well-Being
Date: Tuesday, April 30
Time: Noon – 12:45 p.m.
Location: Ryan Classroom 308
Description: Do you ever feel overwhelmed when faced with an exam, a paper, or a research project? Learn how to make a zine that features library resources to turn to when you need some self-care. A zine is a creative and informal self-publication (all you need is paper and a pen!) that can be personal, artistic, literary, or any other number of subgenres.

Description: Do you enjoy reading? Are you interested in meeting other students who love to read and discover new books? Join us for hot chocolate and cookies. 


Event: Mid-Week Movie Surprise
Date: Wednesday, February 28
Time: 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. 
Location: Romita Auditorium   
Description: Take a break and watch a movie at the Ryan Library! The big screen in the Romita Auditorium will be your movie theater for the afternoon. Will it be a comedy, documentary, silent film, animated film, or another genre? Join us for a hot chocolate and find out!

Description: Take some time to relax and get creative with puzzles and coloring pages.
