Overview

Many faculty consider live, personal interaction to be the most valuable element of quality teaching and learning experiences. Wimba Classroom is an online collaboration suite that integrates with Blackboard and allows educators and students to engage in meaningful and memorable interactions by combining interactive technologies with instructional best practices.

Phone Access

If you are in the classroom and see OK, but are having problems with audio, use the Blue Phone icon to call in (it provides you a phone number and PIN to use). Note that this PIN changes each time you enter the room, so do not attempt to reuse the PIN at a later time.

If you are not able to get into the room at all (whether because of computer issues or you are just not near a computer), use the phone number and PIN from the "Landing Page" to enter the room and be able to listen in. Note that this PIN does not change for the whole semester, so you can write it down and have it with you in case you are stuck away from your computer and need to get into class.

If you are calling in from the Landing Page phone/PIN combination, you can use the following codes to interact in class:

*6 mutes and unmutes your phone (important since otherwise your phone picks up background noise)
*10 raises and lowers your hand so you can ask a question
*11 sets or clears a green check so you can respond Yes
*12 sets or clears a red X so you can respond No

Please note when calling in on the Blue Phone PIN, these codes (including mute) do NOT work. You will want to use the built-in mute on your phone if available, or the professor may mute you, and you can raise your hand to be un-muted.
