Purpose of Guide

The Plagiarism, Copyright, and Fair Use Guide was created to be a good starting point for information on academic integrity. This guide treats the topic of plagiarism pretty fully.  It is recommended that you contact your professor first when you have any doubts or questions on whether or not something would be considered plagiarism.  The librarian at the Reference Desk is also a good person to ask.

Any comments or suggestions aimed at making this guide more useful to students would be appreciated.

  • During Reference Desk Hours, IM with a Librarian by clicking inside the "AIM" box at upper right of screen on the
Ask a Librarian page.  Make sure that inside this box it says "Click here to Chat With a Librarian".
This indicates that a Librarian is available to respond to your chat request.

  • Request a Research Assistance Program (RAP) appointment found in the HELP section of the home page.

  • Appointments can be made for the day or early evening
  • Appointments must be requested at least 48 hours in advance of the time you would like to meet
  • Appointment should be made at least two weeks before the assignment due date in case we need to get a book or article from another library

Please remember, you can always visit the Reference Desk, call, IM, or use the Ask a Librarian form for more immediate help. If you need writing help, you can visit the Rudin Center.
