Using Email

  • Check your Iona email at least once a day
  • Iona’s email system is the official form of electronic communication between the College and enrolled students
  • College offices and faculty communicate with students through the Iona assigned email address
  • Reading messages
  • Working with attachments
  • Sending messages
  • Looking up people in Iona using the Address Book
  • Make sure you Log Off and close the browser to exit email
 

To Login

  1. Go to http://www.iona.edu
  2. Go to Quick Links.  Select Online Services.
  3. Click Login under Microsoft 365 Email
  4. Enter your Network ID (Computer ID@gaels.iona.edu) and Network Password (Note: the username and password are case sensitive)
  5. Make sure "Keep me signed in" is unchecked.
  6. Click Sign in

*Your Network password is your password for Office 365. If you have trouble signing in, please go here for password help.

 

Messages & Message Attachments

To Read a Message

Click on a message. The message will appear on the right, in the preview pane.

To Save an Attachment or Document on your User drive (U: drive)

  1. A paper clip next to a message means that your message has one or more attachments
  2. Click the message to view the message
  3. Double click on the attachment name of the document (in the email header) that you want to save to display the File Download dialog box
  4. Choose Save to display the Save As dialog box
  5. Select your User drive (for example, jdoe1 on student_mail (U:))
  6. Choose Save
  7. Choose Close on the Download Complete window
  8. Close the message when done

To Edit the Attachment

  1. Navigate to the folder or drive where you saved the attachment (we recommend you save the attachment in your U: drive)
  2. Double click on the document you want to edit
  3. Make the necessary changes
  4. Save your document
  5. Close the document

To Reply to a Message and Include an Attachment

  1. Click on the message to view the message you want to answer
  2. Choose Reply on the menu bar
  3. Choose the paper clip to display the Attach Files – Webpage Dialog box
  4. Choose Browse to select the document you want to attach to the message
  5. Click the down arrow to the right of Look in to select your U: drive (for example, jdoe1 on student_mail (U:))
  6. Double click on the document you want to attach
  7. Choose Attach in the Attach Files – Webpage Dialog box
  8. The attached document will be in the message reply header
  9. Type your reply in the body of the message
  10. Choose Send when you are ready to send the message with the attachment
