Citation Style Manuals

Most commonly, history writers use The Chicago Manual of Style or Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Research Papers for creating bibliographies and citations. However MLA (Modern Language Association) or APA (American Psychological Association) styles may sometimes be used. To be certain you are using the correct style for your assignment, please check with the your professor. Print style guides are available at the Ryan Library Research Desk, the Ryan Help Desk, and the Arrigoni front desk.

Online Citation Managers

Online citation managers can assist you by automatically creating citations in the style of your choosing. Please be sure to take advantage of Iona's subscription to RefWorks. Free online citation managers such as EasyBib may also be used, although they will only create citations in certain styles.
